Katsho Gewog

The Dzongkhag Administration of Haa Dzongkhag, Dasho Dzongda, sector heads, the Royal Bhutan Police (RBP), Community-Based Support System (CBSS) members, Local Government (LG) members of Katsho Gewog, and the public from Katsho communities, jointly observed the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25th November,2024. The event focused on raising awareness about adolescent pregnancy prevention and intervention.

Dasho Dzongda highlighted the role of education, youth empowerment, and community support in preventing adolescent pregnancies. In terms of preventive measures, Dasho called for collective responsibility from individuals, families, and communities.

The Dasho OC, RBP highlighted various types of rape, including statutory rape, marital rape, and aggravated rape, explaining their definitions under the law and the severe legal consequences attached to such crimes.

During the event, the Dzongkhag CBSS focal person emphasized the urgent need for community collaboration to eliminate violence against women, particularly focusing on adolescent pregnancy prevention and intervention.

The event concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to work together toward the elimination of violence against women and the protection of adolescents from vulnerabilities. It reinforced the importance of community engagement in achieving these goals.
