Haa Dzongkhag received 1 new excavator and 1 new Back Hoe Loader from MoAF on 30th August 2017 at Bumthang. The handing/taking note for the machineries was signed between Dasho Dzongdag and Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo in presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister.
The excavator reached Haa on 4th September 2017 and from 5th September, the machine was deployed for construction of farm road in Eusu Gewog. The excavator is currently deployed for the construction of 1.2 km farm road from Baytsho to Baytsho Lhakhang. The farm road will benefit about 12 households.
Unlike most farm roads, the take-off point for Baytsho farm road is from the village cluster to a deserted hillock where once stood what the communities call it as Lhachim. Lhachim literally means ‘House of God’. Lhachim is now in ruins with mud rammed walls still overlooking the silent village below. The farm road is constructed to facilitate the re-construction of the Lhachim with fund support from GDG. According to one elder man from the village, Lhachim was in ruins before he could remember as a boy. He is now 96 years old. The new farm road will greatly facilitate to review the 100+ years old history and again unit the community during the local festival taking place at that particular place during the 3rd day of the 11th month of the Bhutanese calendar. Meanwhile, the villagers are contributing cash for fueling the machinery for this farm road construction.
