Community members from Sertena, Bebji, and Mochu villages under Sangbaykha and Gakiling Gewogs are currently participating in a 14-day hands-on bamboo craft training facilitated by the Tshar Institute of the Tarayana Foundation in collaboration with the Jigme Khesar Strict Nature Reserve (JKSNR).
The training aims to enhance the skills of local artisans and diversify bamboo products by introducing improved craftsmanship techniques and new product designs. Participants are learning how to transform traditional bamboo materials into refined and marketable products with greater commercial value.
The opening of the training was graced by the Honโble Deputy Chairperson of the National Council, Dasho Dzongdag of Haa Dzongkhag, and Director of the Department of Forests and Park Services.
Products developed during the training will be showcased at the Haa Spring Festival scheduled for 7โ9 April 2026, promoting local craftsmanship and supporting the โHaa Lay Mi Leyโ branding initiative of Haa Dzongkhag.
