Dasho Dzongdag, accompanied by relevant sector heads, including officials from JKSNR, conducted a familiarization tour of Sangbay and Gakiling Gewogs under Sangbaykha Dungkhag from 10โ16 February 2026. The visit covered all ten chiwogs under the two gewogs.
During the public consultations, Dasho emphasized that the foremost priority must be to ensure that all roads remain motorable and accessible throughout the year.
The team also visited schools, Primary Health Centres, sub-posts, and RNR Extension Centres, and met with civil servants to discuss service delivery, institutional challenges, and priority interventions. A separate meeting was held with Sangbaykha Dungkhag officials and regional employees to review coordination mechanisms and key developmental priorities, and discuss ways to enhance service delivery and ensure effective implementation of plans and programmes.
Besides discussion on the planned activities, the public consultations provided an opportunity to identify some of the low-hanging initiatives that could have direct impact on the lives of the people. Subsequently, two time-bound Task Force groups comprising the Dungpa, Gups, Mangmis, and relevant civil servants have been formed to study priority issues and opportunities and develop actionable proposals for each gewog within three months. The task forces will also reach out to individuals from the two gewogs working in other dzongkhags and abroad to encourage them to share ideas, expertise, and contribute to the process.
The Dzongkhag Health Officer and a medical doctor joined the tour to advocate on non-communicable diseases and conduct health screenings. During the visit, the medical doctor attended to a total of 160 OPD patients who would otherwise have had to travel to Haa Hospital for medical services.
