Access road to Takchu Goenpa has been cleared last night, and light vehicles can pass till Tergola and heavy vehicles till Dorikha at the moment. It is expected the road can be cleared till Legotheng (above Dorithasa) today.
Dzongkhag is also in the process of taking up full restoration works within the Gewogs using Dzongkhag and private sector earthmoving machinery. However, practical challenges of fuel shortage, inability to move wheeled excavators on the paved roads still pose as difficulties.
In the meanwhile, the reach and rescue efforts for the remaining person who was washed away by Somchu on 5 October still remain a big challenge due to inaccessible terrain, power and mobile communication outage, and other logistical challenges. In view of the practical challenges on the ground and very poor chances of locating the body, the Dzongkhag has submitted a report to the higher authorities to call off the efforts by tomorrow, 9 October 2025.
