In commemoration of the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Haa Dzongkhag launched the next-level Toilet 2.0 Program today, a transformative initiative to redefine public hygiene, sanitation, and dignity across the Dzongkhag.
Speaking at the launch, Dzongdag emphasized that “development is not just about roads and buildings, but about human dignity, values, and wellbeing.” He highlighted that toilets are not mere facilities but “a mirror of our values, mindset, discipline, and our sense of respect for others.”
The next-level Toilet 2.0 Program seeks to set new benchmarks in design, cleanliness, functionality, and sustainability, improving all public toilets, including those in schools, hospitals, parks, and public institutions, into clean, dignified, and user-friendly spaces.
Calling it a movement rather than a project, Dzongdag underscored that toilet cleanliness is a collective responsibility, not something to be left only to cleaners but shared by every user and institution.
To drive this transformation, the Dzongkhag has allocated dedicated funds and established a Sanitation and Hygiene Task Force to ensure sustained implementation and monitoring.
The program is dedicated to the 70 glorious years of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, whose extraordinary vision continues to inspire the nation to uphold dignity, discipline, and care in all spheres of life.
