Led by Dzongdag, National Council Member of Haa, Sombaykha Dungpa, DT Thrizin, Gup, and relevant officials from Dzongkhag Administration, the team undertook a 12-hour journey to Sertena under Gakiling Gewog, Sombaykha Dungkhag, via Phuntsholing. Following the recent floods, the Chiwog has remained completely cut off and Sertena Primary School had not been able to reopen after the summer break.
Teachers, staff, and families were part of the group that arrived in Sertena last night. The school is set to reopen tomorrow, Monday.
The team also transported essential food, medical supplies, and animal feed. Due to multiple roadblocks along the way, the supplies were transshipped and carried on foot.
Sertena Chiwog, located 138 km from Haa, is one of the remotest areas in the Dzongkhag. After the only wooden bridge connecting Fentena and Sertena was washed away on 5th August, the Chiwog has been cut off from both Haa and Samtse sides.
