His Excellency Lyonpo Chandra Bdr Gurung visited Haa Dzongkhag from 13โ15 April 2026.
During the visit, Lyonpo inspected key infrastructure projects including the TownโJanatsham motorable bridge, Gongzim Ugyen Dorji Central School, Town Hall, stormwater drainage systems in Haa Throm, and access roads to Takchu Goenpa, Bempurama and Wangtsa.
Lyonpo also visited the lower Gewogs of Sangbay and Gakiling to personally assess areas affected by recent disasters. Meetings were held with Dzongkhag and Dungkhag officials as well as contractors involved in major works such as the realignment of the HaaโSamtse SNH highway, Sherchu Bridge construction, river protection works at Sangbaykha Dungkhag and Nakhekha road improvement site.
The Dzongkhag Administration and Local Government leaders expressed serious concerns that any further delay in support for communities affected by last Octoberโs rainfall disaster could leave them completely cut off during the upcoming monsoon, as the bridges were entirely washed away.
Lyonpo emphasized the importance of quality construction, accountability, and dedicated public service, and reassured timely support to the disaster affected communities.
