Yak fibre is a hidden treasure of Bhutanβs highlands, offering promising opportunities for value addition and sustainable rural livelihoods. The National Highland Development Centre, in collaboration with the Haa Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, conducted a hands-on Yak Wool Processing Training from 3β17 August 2026, equipping livestock officials with practical skills in sorting, cleaning, and processing yak wool into wool tops for value-added products.
In addition to strengthening local capacity, the initiative also preserves traditional knowledge and creates new avenues for income generation among yak-rearing communities
