The construction of Tongchulum Bailey bridge is complete, restoring road access to Mochu and Bebji chiwogs under Sangbay gewog after nearly two months of disruption.

In the past, the route relied on a road section with concrete hume pipes. Traffic came to a complete halt for over two months when the swollen Tongchulum stream washed away the Hume pipe section.

The newly constructed Bailey structure, with a span of 50 Ft and load capacity of 18MT, will directly benefit 122 households comprising 22 in Mochu, 69 in Bebji, 6 in kowkha and 25 in Yaba Shayma which will support an estimated population of around 1,800 residents.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Royal Government, and in particular to the Department of Surface Transport for the much-needed technical support and resources. We also thank the Ministry of Finance for supporting with the disaster emergency response fund.
